About Clos des Rossignols
Hello! Clos des Rossignols – named for the nightingales that nest at the bottom of our garden – is a comfortable ‘maison bourgeoise’ situated in the village of St Martial de Nabirat close to the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda in the Department of the Dordogne.
There is much to see and explore in this beautiful part of France particularly if you are interested in the outdoors and being close to nature. The Perigord Noir, which is the part of the Dordogne where we are, is known as the centre of the world’s walnut and truffle industries.
The rolling countryside has a wealth of history from Cro-Magnon Man to the Hundred Years’ War. There are beautiful chateaux and gardens to explore, the river Dordogne to swim in and canoe down, walks galore and plenty of good things to eat!
Whether you decide to stay local or venture further afield you are bound to find plenty of interesting things to do and we suggest that you visit our ‘Around and About’ for some ideas.

We arrived in France just over a decade ago having spent holidays here many, many times over the years.
An opportunity arose to make our enjoyment of this very varied and fascinating country more permanent and suffice to say – we jumped at the chance. The pace of life here suits us very well -the beauty of the countryside, the weather, the community in our little village and the space to practise acupuncture and have an extensive vegetable garden just a few of the elements we love.
We would very much like to share our experience with you and tell you about all the other positive reasons for living in this lovely part of France – we look forward to meeting you!
